møllendal justification for interventions

Reclamation of land from Store Lungegårdsvann have over the past century almost invariably happened in the northern edge of the lake. However, in 2004, the norther edge have moved far enough southwards, and will have to remain unchanged.

Since there is a river flowing out into the lake in its southeastern corner, it is possible to defend placement of a new structure almost in the river itself. The new structure becomes almost a wedge driven into the former bay - removing and displacing the previously reclaimed land areas; "the river forcing its way past the cemetery on its way to fulfil its purpose to complete its cycle" ("The radiant city", Le Corbusier, Published in 1933). Just as the remains of the people buried inside the cemetery. They have also fulfilled their purpose.
